Instructions and Information for the 2017-2018 Flu Season

All flu shots are administered during annual physicals or flu shot clinics.

To schedule your child's flu shot:

If you have access to the patient portal, please schedule the vaccine through the portal.

Otherwise, please email our office at infomorristownpa@advocaredoctors.com with your child's name, date of birth and contact phone number.  Include information for all children to be vaccinated in the same email (please do not send multiple requests). We will confirm your clinic time via email.  If you do not receive a response withing five business days, please call the office.  

Please be advised that Advocare Morristown Pediatrics will NOT be administering the Intranasal Flumist for the 2017-2018 flu season in accordance to recommendations by The Center for Disease Control.  More information can be found here.

If your child is enrolled in Medicaid, Aetna Better Health Plan A, Horizon NJ Health Plan A, or Amerigroup Plan A, we are unable to vaccinate your child in our office.  Please contact the office to find out how your child can get vaccinated.

Available clinic dates are:
*Saturday October 14, 2017 from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon.
*Saturday October 21, 2017 from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon.

    *Please make your appointment by 10/12/17 for 10/14/17 clinic and 10/19/17 for the 10/21/17 clinic.  
    *Dates are subject to change/cancellation due to shipment delays or vaccine shortages.


Once your clinic time is scheduled, please note the following important guidelines:

1. Print the Vaccination Record form.  Provide your child's name, date of birth and age at time of vaccination.  Please also answer the 7 questions and sign where indicated.  You must bring this completed form with you to the flu clinic in order for your child to receive the vaccination.  Print one page per child to be vaccinated.  Please do not email or fax this form ahead of time.

2. Read the vaccine information sheet regarding the flu vaccine.  Your signature on the Vaccination Record form indicates you have read this information.

3. Patients cannot receive the flu vaccine without having an up to date physical exam within the last 365 days.  If your child is due for a physical during flu season, he or she can receive the vaccine at that time, as long as it is available.

4. Can someone other than the patient's parent bring them to the clinic?  Yes, the accompanying adult must be over the age of 18.  The vaccine will not be administered with out a signed Vaccine Permission Form.  This should be completed and brought to the clinic during your visit.  If the patient is accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, you do not need this form.

5. Please be advised that during clinic hours, patient's do not have individualized appointments.  Select a time to come that is best for you, realizing that we accommodate many children during clinic hours.

6.  We will not take co-pays at the flu clinics, however if your insurance company requires one be paid, you will be billed at a later date.  If you do not have insurance, we ask that you pay in full at the time of the clinic.  Please call extension 113 and speak with Alex prior to the clinic for pricing information.

7.  Novel A H1N1 (“Swine Flu”) strain is included in the flu shot.  There is no separate vaccination required.

8.  Proof of vaccination will be provided, should your child's school/daycare require it.

9. Due to the number of patients to be vaccinated, we will be unable to handle any other administrative business at the time of the clinic (i.e. dropping off/picking up forms, paying balances, making appointments, etc.)

10.  The flu vaccine is available on a first come, first served basis.  We will not reserve vaccines for patients.

11. Upon arrival, you will provide the receptionist with your completed vaccination record form then your child will have his or her temperature taken.  We ask that all hats, jackets, sweatshirts, etc. be removed in advance, to avoid false elevation in body temperature.  You will then wait on line to be called back for the vaccination.

12.  Please do not worry if the line is wrapped around the atrium!  With everyone's cooperation, the clinic will run smoothly and in a timely manner.

13. After your child receives the vaccine, please follow the arrows displayed around the office to exit.  We ask that you do not stay in the office if it is not necessary.  Stickers will be available for your child in the exam room.

14. If your child is sick the day of the clinic or you received the vaccine elsewhere, please give us a call to cancel at extension 100.

15. If it is your child's first time receiving the flu vaccine and they are between the ages of 6 moths to 8 years old, they require two doses of the vaccine administered 30 days apart.  Be sure to schedule an appointment for the second dose.

16.  The flu vaccine is in high demand and we may experience shortages or shipment delays.  Please be patient with our staff while we try to accommodate all of our patient's needs.
